Photovoltaic SystemsDO NOT DELETE

Photovoltaic technology uses the sun’s energy to make electricity. As defined by the word itself, the prefix "photo" means "light" and the suffix "voltaic" refers to "electricity produced by a chemical reaction."

Photovoltaic cells obtain solar energy and convert it into direct current. A complete photovoltaic system consists of one or more photovoltaic modules that are connected to an inverter which changes the photovoltaic system's direct current (DC) into alternating current (AC).

This conversion is necessary to make the electricty generated by the photovoltaic system compatible with our electric grid, therefore making it possible to provide an electric current to power your electrical household appliances.

Photovoltaic systems are available "on-grid". This means that electricity generated from free solar energy will supply electrical power to your home, while any extra electric power generated, which you do not use, will be fed into the country's electric grid, "selling" electricity to the electricity supplier. "Off-grid" systems are also avaialbe, consisting of standalone models with battery back-up.

Alberta can size and design a photovoltaic system to suit your needs. Contact us for an appointment to explain the system to you in further detail: our technical experts will discuss your requirements with you and help you choose the type of system most siutable for your home.
