Parking Management Systems

Alberta provides technology-based solutions for parking management, including parking enforcement and permit management, as well as access and revenue control.

Devices such as barrier systems control vehicles’ entry, passageway and exit and allow for various means of identification, ranging from magnetic cards to transponder cards or chip cards.

Automatic Pay Stations are the systems that are normally located in pedestrian areas in parking areas.  These are self-service terminals which allow the payment of parking fees in closed parking areas.  These systems are used for the payment of short-term parking tickets, but they can also be used for other card types such as parking checks, congress cards, value cards or season parking cards, as well as for any extra payment that must be made if the parking time has been exceeded. They can also be configured for the sale of cards, e.g. time value cards.

All Automatic Pay Stations are able to simultaneously process several tariff structures and tariff tables in order to collect parking fees for several parking areas and to process different tariffs.
