The Marine Division at Alberta has handled a number of projects in the maritime sector, ranging from design and consultancy, to project management, operational diving, and waterborne maintenance services.
Alberta has provided underwater and dry repair as well as installation and maintenance of solutions for a range of sea vessels, ranging from cruise liners to cargo ships including ‘The Maltese Falcon’ and an ultra-modern 289 foot clipper sailing yacht. Works were conducted in the super yacht’s main engine room for ceiling and bilge fire protection, including the installation of a low pressure control mode water and foam mist system, where water was pumped from the fire tank to the fire locker room, which is where all the alarm valves and other fire-fighting equipment was installed. The system consisted of an alarm valve with a by-pass system, which supplies a foam inductor and generates a low pressure (16bar) water/foam deluge through a stainless steel 316L pipe-work distribution system.
To counterbalance increased threats to ports and harbours worldwide, the Alberta Group has been commissioned to install coast security network systems to monitor ports, harbours, bays, quays and berths. The fully comprehensive systems were designed to support local and Mediterranean law enforcement in the prevention of crime as well as the implementation of systematic good order, including safety issues both in local waters and on land.
Alberta have also installed several systems using IP and fibre-optic technology. The systems installed provide practical surveillance applications for the real world and are designed to tackle modern security concerns relating to people, traffic and environment management to profit-loss reduction and mobile surveillance, using real-time round the clock communication. Set for future expansion both in terms of size as well as in terms of improved technology, Alberta’s coast security projects consist of wireless, high-powered equipment operating to enhance maritime security 24/7 by monitoring for safety.
